Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I'm currently dredging the lower reaches of my 'clip-stash'.
Still... I'm 50 now so you gotta expect that kinda physical deterioration intcha.
No idea why I thought this was worth savin.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
It's the effortless swing and movement in the performance... almost off-hand.
Like it was something they were born knowing how to do and just had to wait for the zeitgeist to catch up with them.
And John's voice of course.
The full-throated roar of a young man with the world at his feet at 2.07 and the involuntary hiccup just afterwards (2.11-ish) where he nearly steers the thing off the road and into the ravine he gets so excited.
Works for me!

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Brian's pipes aint what they were on this clip.
But the sparkle's in the writing and the arrangement here - not the performance.
Easily the equivalent of anything that forms part of the Western classical canon.
Take it up with ole Lenny B if'n ya don't like it.

A mess of potash?
A pocket full of Pretty Green?
About the same if you work at Park Gardens.
Or is it Circus?
But didn't we have a nice time?
Ahh wasn't it such a fine time?
A parcel of rogues...

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Disappointing currency news for those travelling abroad.
Apparently the mickle is faring very poorly against the muckle in the exchange rates.
Shares in good tunes and old fiddles however have remained stable.

When the i-phone has an 'app' that lets me input this sleazy wee beauty...
... and then gives me a list of pubs within a 50 mile radius that have it on their jukebox...
... then we'll talk.

We may have been 'paranoid'... but we obviously weren't 'paranoid' enough.
Incidentally... how IS ole Campbell Ogilvie takin all this... he's gone very quiet hasn't he?
