Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Amazing how more bands than you would think have the conjunction 'for' as the middle part of their name isn't it.
Bat For Lashes
Tears For Fears
Flesh for Lulu (or Cilla - for viewers in Scawtchlind )
Scouting For Girls
Kryptonite for Crownybhoy

Shockin - it really is
Ye do yer best...
There's that Gladstone out at the Station Hotel ( a den of vice) till all hours withoot proper sustenance.
I left him out a wee Fairport & Can sandwich earlier - he can get it when he staggers in later.
Granpaw ... he'll saunter in when he feels like it - with his suede shoes and his fountain pen and all his fukkin orders - Velvets on toast in front of the Television for him.
The idiot children (my favourites ) Crownybhoy...
and Sev....
they'll fuckin listen tae anythin... the wee darlins

A brilliant run there Immo, I'm almost sorry I missed it.
If you liked that guitar solo, try this:
I'm kinda partial to the drum beat on both tracks too.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
It's a sadly familiar tale.
I myself was made to love magic.
That - and eat sprouts.
Only one of these draconian disciplinary measures had any affect on me tho

The more things seem to change...
...the more they stay the same.
When you gonna realise - that you don't even have to try any longer... do what you want to
Anyone?
Bueller?

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
When I was a kid, Sundays were the worst
The whole of the town went into a kinda 24 hour hibernation.
Nothing opened.
There were obscure, Presbyterian by-laws in place specifically designed to keep people off the streets on the Sabbath.
Beadin Bill regularly had to haul his hungover arse out of the domicile at early-o-clock on a Sunday in order to buy the papers off the manky-overcoated old geezer who set up shop in a doorway by the Bonnybridge stance at the bus station.
The smell of those piles of newsprint...
The smell of the M.O.O. Geezer...
The open-mouthed canvas sack full of half-crowns and coppers at his feet....
Awwwww
Still...
Fucker never - EVER - let me dirve/steer tho
I can hear the self -righteous cunt even now after my first request to take the wheel.
BB - If ye canny even spell 'dirve' - why should I let ye?
ME - HAH! You said 'dirve'
BB - No ah didny!
ME - Aye ye did!
BB- Ah said drive
ME - You said dirve
BB - SHUT IT! YER ONLY TEN !!!! AND YER CLUTCH CONTROL'S ROTTEN!!!
ME - Aye Awright Keep yer hair on Mail and a Post?
Pong-yant for me
Shite for evrbdy else
Nae luck

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Coulda bin worse I s'pose
he coulda taken us to Aberdeen for a holiday....
Packed us off to bed every night of le vacance at half-seven on the dot...
...and spent the entire holiday poughlin my (maternal) uncles at three card brag in the bar of the hotel...
God bless BB
I picked this out (despite some stiff opposition ) as his funeral reading.
My Dad worked in the offices of GE Plastics (Marbon Chemicals as was) in G'mooth
James Kavanaugh is a poet
He never met BB
But y'know ....
There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who prey upon them with IBM eyes
And sell their hearts and guts for martinis at noon.
There are men too gentle for a savage world
Who dream instead of snow and children and Halloween
And wonder if the leaves will change their color soon.
There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who anoint them for burial with greedy claws
And murder them for a merchant's profit and gain.
There are men too gentle for a corporate world
Who dream instead of candied apples and ferris wheels
And pause to hear the distant whistle of a train.
There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who devour them with eager appetite and search
For other men to prey upon and suck their childhood dry.
There are men too gentle for an accountant's world
Who dream instead of Easter eggs and fragrant grass
And search for beauty in the mystery of the sky.
There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who toss them like a lost and wounded dove.
Such gentle men are lonely in a merchant's world,
Unless they have a gentle one to love.
De salut BB
