Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I justify this kryptonite-to-Crownybhoy choice on four grounds
1. Everybody else knows it's a classic - cept you ya saddle-sniffin, cloth-eared cocksocket.
2. I'm a total sucker for hearing the 'bits' of a track taken apart like this
3. There's loads of other Pet Sounds tracks in the side-bar for the rest of us non-hearing-impaired posters.
4. They're weirdly moving clips. I'm afraid I got 'something in my eye' whilst listening to this one
It's that wee string coda at the end and the clip of Brian and Marilyn in the pool
Fuck - I nearly went again there
I said to Toots I felt a bit funny tonight
Ye better get on the board before it wears off then
was her acid reply

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
If only mo could justify his tache so eloquently.
If it looks like dog shit, and it smells like dog shit then that's what it and Pet Sounds is.
If you come round my house I'll sign my Pet Sounds cd in Rangers blood and give it to you, after we've emptied the house and shed of alcohol.
Fantastic video though immo, truly inspirational stuff.
This came on the playlist while running this morning, tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune!

It's not often that you get to use the phrase:
"Y'know that's nearly as good as Sam Cooke's version"
Howevvaaaah

Properly, Englishly, eccentric
100% genius
Like Neil Sedaka and Carole King had an oddly hirsute child and got Brian Wilson in as a babysitter during said child's formative years.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Pop on Fridays - just seems to suit somehow.
Saturday?
Usually a bit more slanted towards the "heads" on here
Love this - properly folk/psych
Richard Thompson pisses all over Eric Clapton (again ) in this one.
(Not literally obviously - that would be horrible )
For Bertie McDoormat - wunna the good guys

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
There was a good Benny Green story about when he was interviewing Clark Terry (?) As he walked with Clark into the foyer of the hotel in which the interview was due to take place, the strains of muzak - Scott Joplin's 'The Entertainer' - wafted audibly around them. "Gee" said Terry "You know that's weird? That song is my 2nd favourite song in the world ever"
"Really?" sez Benny "What's your first?"
"Any other song in the world. Ever."
All musicians love this one.
It's in the contract

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I know we heard from the sepulchrally-voiced Misshewer McKenzie earlier.
But this is just...
Approach with caution
It's gottan undertow that'll grab you by the ankles and suck you down
Just like "Chantelle" down the Camelon Massage, Tan and Touch-up Emporium (free estimates)
