Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
It's gone four...
The internal moral dialogue concerning the recharging of the glass is purely academic
You know it
(Hell - I know it )
There's only one buncha of sloppy, blues-sodden, gin-soaked, rollickers can provide the soundtrack for such a scenario...
Others may come... others may go...

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
All late-60s "sophistication" and cheesy arrangements
A FLW-style "modern" up in Lochgreen Road - by the canal.
Saturday nights for the white Bri-Nylon polo-neck and pushing through the crowds of groovy guests as they throng around your Scandinavian-pine, open-plan staircase. (Glass of red wine optional)
(Soundtrack - see above)
Sunday mornings for the formica breakfast bar with the chrome pole, the Arran jumper, the smell of the Consulate (clear as a mountain stream) fug and bacon fat, the Sunday Times colour supplement and mibbes a Coq au Vin later.
(Soundtrack - Clancy Bros & Tommy Makem/Bad Classical)

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Its not lost, has been covered by the exquisite Ms Franklin but this song and album shows the talent of Carole King. Tapestry is a must for all middle age bawbags who spend half their life in a semi pissed state

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
This was never released as a single but really should have been in place of that Drugs Don't Work pish. Expect an endemic of under rated Brit pop fillers

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I don't care what Toots sez
A long, lazy pub-bound afternoon with summa the geezers on here seems like a good idea to me at this moment.
One of my song-heroes James
Take Good Care of My Baby
Up On The Roof
Will You Love Me tomorrow (shocking at the time )
Let Me Get Close to You (Killer versh on Alex Chilton's "High Priedt" LP)
Wasn't Born To Follow
I'm Into Something Good
Bye Bye Baby (Yes... that one )
Plus...
The only ever-present in my top-5-trax list over the last 20-odd years.
You get a better fukkin class of poster on here
Definitely

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Takes me back to my youth that one Immo, might have said before that the 50's was my first introduction to music
I was up the north west coast today and spend the hours singing away to a mellow pop meddle, followed by a classic mellow soul/disco comp and finished off with Pulp's Hits
The look on that deers face was priceless when I near killed the cunt while bellowing out Gladys Kinght's ....... You're The Best Thing though:pale:

Anyway here's one of my favourites from the mid 90's, sounds as good as it did then
They supported the Stones but I'm sure crown wont hold that against them

Fukk'sake Jimmy
You got me goin now...
Ahhh - the good ole days
People who could write, wrote.
People who could sing, sang.
And N the T shall meet.
Of course it's all terribly old-fashioned, inefficient and cuts into the obscene profits of cuddly multi-national music concerns summat rotten.
Still.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
and with that here's something from Fat Elvis (not the cunt shaggin Garry Oldman's sister in Eastenders for those who like to follow things through ), this is much better than the usually heard version ..... Why? Cause it's stripped down and raw, devoid of the over production that fuckin kills pop music
So there
PS Did I remember to say FTQ

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
My own poysunulll anthem
A foist
"And its the damage that we do
And never know
Its the words that we dont say
That scare me so
Theres so many people to see
So many people you can check up on
And add to your collection
But they keep you hanging on
Until youre well hung
Your mouth is made up but your mind is undone
Accidents will happen
We only hit and run
I dont want to hear it
cause I know what Ive done"
