Got this next off a cracking wee Psych/Garage blog ages ago

A tough, Antipodean, scuzzily produced, fuzzed up two-fingers to the world in the "Lenny Kaye/Nuggets" tradish I thought, as I grooved (in an embarrasingly middle-aged way) to it on the ole I-pod. Funky Chicken

Then you see the reality affraid affraid

Still Rock Out tho I reckon

Now recently in posession...

(Thanks to the good graces of a stand-up next-door neighbour - All hail the Boab-Meister Bow )

...of some deeply potent organic material...

...after months enduring the joyless iron-rations of "Cooncil" No

I find myself concurring with the wise words of my advisor on these matters... Mr B.

That particular postman, dub-afficionado, and occasional Albarn-a-like recommends abstaining completely when the pickings are slim...

Wait for the good stuff man... Very Happy

And from the slightly less groovy bandleader/arranger/genius...

Hokey Butt-Lovely

(Not his real name obviously... he was christened Cyril Butt-Lovely Rolling Eyes )

Talkin of genius composer/arrangers...

You used to be able to get a much longer versh of this on YT Evil or Very Mad

Loads of stuff with Burt talkin to/advising Cilla and you could see how nervous she was - workin with the big hairy-forearmed genius. Heartbreakingly lovely it was - seriously. The sound quality was better and you could really hear her rip into the full version of the snippet here.

I've heard loadsa "great" singers sing this one

Never heard embdy sing better than Cilla tho Champion

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

I think the pencil sketch of D. Soul that opens the vidja might be the most terrifying (and enduring) image I've ever seen in my natchrall Shocked Shocked Shocked

I dunno much about art... Rolling Eyes Smile Smile Smile

But I know that I love Ben W for the big, breathy notes he squeezes out. I love the way they evaporate away to nowt but somehow seem to leave a shimmering, quivering column of air in their wake...

I love the big man for his technique and his hands as big as frying pans... but also for his ability to control that technique and complement another player by paring it right down and playing the bare minimum required... thereby allowing the big spaces in between the notes to waft the music skywards.

Waddya think Quinny?

We cool? Smile Laughing

Fat Tam... cheers cheers cheers

The science of knockin fukk out of some creaking, foosty Heath-Robinson device made of walnut, ebony and ivory... and rockin it.... every single time cheers
