I am reliable informed that it isn't true.

That is, there was no such incident, nobody was taken to hospital, there was no leg in an ice-box. The whole story is a fabrication and the Army are "investigating". Meanwhile a few of the Record's rival papers are planning "follow ups" in the morning.
