I'm afraid I'm blinkered when it comes to Martyn's music, mo, and I didn't honestly think I would see him play again before he drops down deid. He plays the full Grace and Danger album (easily in every teenager's top ten of all time) and then half a dozen faves. The voice ain't what it was twenty years ago, but some songs - Rock Salt and Nails, Never Let Me Go, Don't Want to Know - just sent shivers. Just hearing the likes of Cooltide, Grace and Danger and Hurt in Your Heart live with the big man twenty yards away...well I'm sure you get it...

Saddo that I am, I got the set list and got it signed afterwards...it'll be framed and become a (the only!) family heirloom! Unfortunately the big man does not look well at all: Kurtz in Apocalypse Now comes to mind in terms of size and his breathing is absolutely fucked. I suppose living the life he has it isn't surprising.

One final comment: the crowd. Fuckin' SAGA holiday outing!!Two guys I spoke to said their last concert had been Jethro Tull. His mate said he had heard Keith Emerson (of Emerson Long and Putrid) was putting together a touring band; after my uncontrolled, thinking aloud reply of "Fuckin' torture" they made their excuses and left.

As for ELP it should be legal to shoot them on sight. There's a very funny live reunion gig being televised occasionally on some obscure channel. Emerson writhing around the stage with a keyboard, fat and aged 60-whatever is enough to justify execution.
