Re: Tricky Trees Legend
How do you think Clough is being portrayed in the book and the film?.His wife is being quoted that she will not watch the film due to the over emphassis on the drinking and other stuff. She stated that he was not a big drinker in his earlier management years.Something which is potrayed in the film.

Re: Tricky Trees Legend
Not read the book or seen the film bewls, ordered this the other day though:

Thought his wife came across very poorly on the documentary last night.
He may not have been a big drinker in his early managerial days, but he was in drink’s thrall (like immo) from the very early 80s and probably earlier.
Remember hearing a story from that time (early 80s) that he’d been seen drunk and asleep in a field. His drinking was common knowledge.
Some of the 80s TV appearances shown in the documentary, you can see he’s a drinker, blotchy red face and sweating (like immo).
He and Peter Taylor were both said to be keen on making money in shall we say grey areas.
All of this can’t detract from his managerial achievements. His greatest of which (in my mind) was the way his teams played. No diving, no whinging and no cheating. Many a time I saw Nigel flattened by a defender, play would be stopped and the trainer would spring to his feet only for Cloughie to hold him back, he didn’t like trainers on the pitch.
NB. No offence immo.

Re: Tricky Trees Legend
Mind when i was a young man, we used to drink in a pub in Gartcosh called Chapmans, it was either a taxi home or a walk over the fields back to Easterhouse, the amount of time i woke up in that field covered in dew a bug bites is amazing, i can dig cloughie.

Bollocks. Your ego couldn't risk missing out on the stroking it gets when I say you've sent some really good tunes. The comps will keep coming.
There may be reviews on these books if you all behave:
The second book is "In Search Of Robert Millar", he's a cyclist you know.

Spermo is still a wanker, but the Clough book is boring as fuck. Just reiterates what a fucking cunt Motson is if he thinks it's one of the best football books written.
