And they were playing Heart,s some time in the late sixties, it was winter because they commented on how good the park was because of the straw mattting(which was piled behing the goals) keeping off the frost, the thing was, he actually stated that some of the celts were playing in basketball boots
was that allowed?

Yes, sevvy, of course that was allowed......for Celtic. Tommy Gemmell and Jim Craig even wore Doc Martens at times, and Craig carried dental probes to deal with dangerous wingers. Billy McNeil was known to stride the pitch in spikes.

Hearts had to wear ordinary gutties, or roller skates.

At least we've progressed from these days.
