Re: Birth & Death
Lou Reed wrote a whole album about death, called Magic Loss, inspired partly by the illness and death of songwriter and friend Doc Pomus....This is one of the tracks:

Re: Birth & Death
This is a song that relates to Andy Warhol's shooting in 1968 and his later life. He "died" several times that night while being treated in hospital.
John Cale & Lou Reed produced Songs for Drella in tribute to Warhol, when he actually died - again in hospital after a routine operation this time - 19 years later.
It's a very under-rated album, this is 'The Dream'...

I love that track (the Reed & Cale one I mean).
This, on the other hand, makes me laugh an evil laugh every time I hear it........

Re: Birth & Death
Re. birth I usually hate mushy stuff about babies. somehow though I can't bring myself to decry John Lennon's ode to his second son Sean, Beautiful Boy....
Thirty years later many of us remember where we were when we heard of John Lennon's death. I wasn't a massive fan but it hit home just the same. Totally pointless death. And a real loss in many ways.
And 30 years on we've learned absolutely nuthin.
(that's enough maudlin philosophy. Ed.)

He may be a short arse, specky, moustachioed, bad tempered, twat, but he does bestow some interesting morsels. Good stuff mo.

Huh! It was meant with an affection that you used to reciprocate until you switched your attention to that fucking male nurse. I don't know why you bother, she has shocking dress sense, I on the other hand am a vision of sartorial excellence (well, on the jeans and jumper front ). Anyway, I'm not jealous anymore, that mita is my new father figure and hero.

Brilliantly wacky - in a good way
I think it might've been used as the theme for an early effort by STV at a home-grown soap-opera, High Living(?)

Re: Birth & Death
Not like it hasn't been posted before prolly
By me prolly.
Worth it tho - if only for the double-tracked saxes that kick in at about 1.18 and the single string ending.
Maan - it was mean
