My view of the Eighties bands that used synthesizers/electronic music: most of it was soulless. There were a few decent tunes but I never felt there was any true feeling fom most of them.

The likes of The Pet Shop Boys and Howard Jones were frankly laughable.

Still. They sold a boatload of records. So they must have been good.

Sky plussed it while I was away, Licker, actually enjoyed most of it. Remember getting Cabaret Voltaire EP waaaay back in the late 70s.

The Vince Clarke stuff was quite interesting. And I love Kraftwerk - wish I'd got a ticket to their appearance at the Manchester Festival this year but it sold out damn quick: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/jul/05/steve-reich-kraftwerk-pop-review
