Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
Folkin' right it was
If I could be any pianner-pounder...
...it would be Nicky H.
In the wings - never in the spotlight.
ACHTUNG!!!
INCOMING TURGID ANECDOTE!!!
I wunst landed a gig as pianner player for a Halloween musical stage production.
Did the whole thing from the wings out of sight of the audience.
First night went like a dream.
On the second night, one of the cast slumped down in the wings and died of a stroke half-way through the performance.
I had to fill-in while the medics tried (unsuccessfully) to revive him.
Poor sod.
Imagine havin to go to meet your maker with my inexpert noodlings ringing in yer ears
I'm currently considering stalking Nicky Hopkins to avoid a similar fate.

Immo, what a shameless old vamp. Might have known you'd have one of those "the show must go on" tales in the repertoire

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
It was in The Tollbooth theatre in Stirling.
The sound guy was the actor who played Andy in Gregory's Girl.
At one point he was supposed to cue up some 'chase' music but somehow managed to blast out a 'creaking door' sound effect followed by some birdsong.
While the actors stood dumbstruck and horrified, I had the presence of mind (remarkably considering my pre-show beer-intake ) to scare up a bit of silent-movie-style 'chase' comping on the ole johanna.
Pretty hard to do while the director is hugging you and calling you a genius

Yep, having that immo, their tunes all sound the same, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Anyone able to send me some Cyprus Hill please?
