The Road
I don't know if any of you have read this book, but you should. Anyway, I am very excited to learn that the trailer has just been released, although we'll have to wait til October to see the whole thing!

Re: The Road
Triffic shout O.
One of those books where the images and scenes are hangin around in your head for weeks after. Genuinely affecting and one of the bleakest (yet oddly uplifitng in bits) books I've ever read. Miles better than the long-winded ramble-a-thon that was All The Pretty Horses IMO.
Dunno if I would want to see the film tho. Don't like it when you see someone else's idea of how the story should look once you've got yer own picture in your head of the characters, settings etc

Re: The Road
It's a fair point Immo. I loved the book. I think I'd need to see it now I know it's been made. I can't see how it would be better than the book. The trailer made it look like a big story, much less intimate than the writing. It was my first McCarthy, picked up No Country for Old Men in a charideee shop recently but I am saving it for my holidays.

Re: The Road
It was the wanking scene that I found most affecting oddly enuff.
I dunno if you've ever tried to crack one off whilst reading a paperback in a Wimpy bar before...
...don't - if you've never tried it
That kinda bad publicity will follow you to the grave man

Re: The Road
I can connect with immo sentiment regarding book v movie.
Remembering having 'Noddy's Pet Chicken' read to me as a child, and being confused and disappointed when I saw the episode on telly.

Once you've pictured Big Ears as Martin Clunes there's no going back is there

Re: The Road
I actually really like it Gee.
Loved the original but this one's good too I reckon due to David Nobbs still being the (co) writer.

I 'quite admire' the wellness nurse, but she wasn't in it tonight.

Re: The Road
Here, immo, how do you manage to be posting at 3am, and get to your work next day. Sometimes (due to a hernia) I'm up at that time, but the last thing I could be doing is posting.
I've been sent to folk in her position a few times in the last cupla years, but they haven't given me that feeling of being 'physically excited' (in fact, these two junior marketing guys are quite funny as well).

Re: The Road
I have the constitution of a buffalo with a lead-lined stomach is how.
Plus, I spent the afternoon away from prying eyes up in room 186 (as is my habit of a Friday pm) working on stuff that had nowt to do with work.
Have you ever tried cracking one off whilst holding an SQA Unit Descriptor in one hand?
