More Comedy Classics
I've just spent the afternoon watching Two Ronnies sketches on YouTube. This is the funniest thing I've seen for ages
It's about a short sighted Corbett going to see his short sighted optician(Barker)
No doubt Immo'll be along later to tell me it was originally done by some obscure Italian in 1939 and I've got no taste in comedy but hey ho

Re: More Comedy Classics
You are familiar with the work of the great auteur Giovanni "Arseio" Farrago?
I'm impressed Peps
No really :o
(It was '37 actually - but you were damn close)
BTW
You got no taste in comedy

Re: More Comedy Classics
When Channel 4 started up in the early Eighties it had lots of brilliant programmes like The Tube and Comic Strip.
This is Comic Strip's A Fistful Of Travellers' Cheques.

Seeing as though most of my answers in Crown's Billy were dunno I thought it would be apt to add this little gem. It's Keith's job appraisal from The Office

Re: More Comedy Classics
And yet still the funniest clip on the thread by quite a long way
The bit where he has to go back over what he's said to remember the line is fukkin beautiful
"I bought a greyhound the other day. My friend said - what are you goin to do with it? I said - I'm gonna race it. He said by the look of it, I think you'll beat it"

This clip from the same film is 8 seconds long so even Spermy shouldn't have too much trouble digesting it.

Re: More Comedy Classics
Everybody loves Kes
But this is the definitive version of the best bit: The Football Match. Right from the start through to where the lad gets bullied by the PE teacher in the dressing room.
"MY feet are like blocks of ice"
Worth watching even for you S(u)permo

Re: More Comedy Classics
Sorry Mo I was so busy re-watching the clip I forgot to link to it. I know you don't drink (from what you've said on here) and I drink very rarely these days so when I decide to push the boat out (I've had a bottle of wine and 3 cans of Murphys) it hits me pretty hard. Anyway here's the clip.

Re: More Comedy Classics
You've bin away too long Peps
Always in my top 5 that one
Regularly bore the tits offa groups of 1st-year degree students with Kes during delivery of the sexily-titled "Mass-Media in the UK" unit.
My Dad snuck me in (below the certificate) to see it at the pictures a few years after it came out
Well below the certificate as it goes
I remember him arguing with the crimplene-uniformed hing-oot who was masquerading as a usefully employed member of society on that particular evening.
(I'm paraphrasing obviously...)
"Look- he's ma boy and if he's really upset by the fillum ah'll sort that oot maself - awright?"
(I'd've added "ya plooky-faced wee mouth-breathin nonentity" - but my Dad always hated upsetting people unnecessarily )
Thing is...
(a) He was only so keen to let me see it cos i was nuts on birdwatching and nature and stuff at the time.
(b) I realised even then that he was conciously nurturing something that he thought was a worthwhile pursuit for an 11/12(?)-year-old boy.
(Better than the alternatives for a kid my height and fighting weight in 1973/4 anyhow)
What i only began to realise as I grew older and uglier and wrinklier was that...
(c) He just got a simple kick out of being out somewhere. With me - his son.
I wish I'd realised it at the time insteada bein so pleased with myself for workin out (a) and (b)
Mibbes you hafta get old to work these things out.
I dunno.
I miss him summat cruel still tho.
I know that.
I know
Anyhow...
Apart from that... I got no real feelings one way or the other on the previous clip
