Mike McCurry
Those decisions (or lack of them) have caused a great deal of debate this weekend.
Here's the video of the key incidents in Saturday's match. Thanks to Todders on the Scotland board for the link.
And Pepe's view?
The penalty: An absolute stonewaller
The offside: It looked marginal. If I had been running the line I'd have probably flagged it for offside as well(just before having a massive heart attack ) .
The headbutt: Absolutely blatant. How McCurry managed to miss it is beyond me
Anyway Mike's now given his version of Saturday's events on this link from the BBC
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee_utd/7393800.stm
I have to say that I feel for Smith regarding Cousin. Walter lost the opportunity to offload him in January for a very handsome profit. His attacking options are very limited so he HAS to play the Frenchman even though he knows he's a liability.

United had offered nothing in response by the time Ferguson doubled Rangers' advantage, but they seemed to be very badly treated by McCurry over the goal.
When Burke crossed from the left, two Rangers players were clearly offside and standing in front of the United goalkeeper when Ferguson glanced the header to McLean's left. The linesman flagged for offside, the referee made the award and then, possibly as a result of a protest by the home players, decided to consult his assistant. The outcome was an unfathomable change of mind that allowed the goal to stand.

Celtic almost paid the price in the 12th minute after referee Mike McCurry had harshly penalised Bobo Balde for a foul on Eugene Dadi.

The SFA confirmed on Thursday that Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson will miss the club's first three SPL matches after the winter break...his booking for dissent by Mike McCurry in the tunnel immediately after the 1-1 draw at Pittodrie on 2 January has pushed him over the disciplinary points barrier.

Celtic had a strong penalty claim turned down just before the break when Vennegoor of Hesselink was brought down by Diamond, but referee Mike McCurry waved aside the protests.

Re: Mike McCurry
From what I've seen on the telly, and at close quarters, McCurry is no' very fair.
But he's nice to the players. I saw him saying 'Nacho, Nacho, Nice Goal' when I was watching, and others commented on this as well.

Re: Mike McCurry
Here's a shot of a referee admiring Allan McGregor's kung fu technique. Fukkin Hearts player had the nerve to claim he'd been booted in the guts, no foul of course.
Guess the ref. "Nice goal nacho" McCunty.

Re: Mike McCurry
btw Immo, you missed this little gem from your Observer piece:
"It was not the only seeming injustice to have been visited on the tangerine shirts during that first half. Ferguson escaped censure over a late, scything tackle on Willo Flood, while, soon after, Darren Dods, the visiting centre-half, was shown a yellow card for a much more innocuous, less dangerous, barge from behind on Daniel Cousin."
"Nice Goal Nacho" helping keep Barry's scarcily credible season without a single league booking...

He was bumpin' something!
The McCurry 'unfaithful' story was well known to
Crazy that the paper wanted to protect his refereeing career from embarrassment, yet were quite happy to heap humiliation on the ministry!

OK Bewls, let's talk about Celtic's third league title in a row, during an eight year period that we've dominated (Rangers having scraped two jammy last minute wins in 2003 or 2005).
If you'd rather discuss Rangers, maybe the Manchester riot would be a good place to start. How about the remarkable fact that those 42 arrested (you know the guys described by Martin Bain and the Laptop Loyal as English casuals etc etc) all had Scottish addresses (usually in the murkier parts of Glasgow and Fife)?
Or maybe we should just discuss Stenhousemuir?
