Just a Little Rumour for the Gers

Town's central defender, Gareth McAuley, is out of contract at the end of the season. He's been offered a two year extension which he's turned down. Apparently Rangers are very keen on him and see him as the ideal replacement for David Weir.

In my opinion he's Ipswich's best player. A solid commanding central defender who also chips in with a few headed goals from set pieces. I'd hate to see him go but, from his point of view, a nice signing on fee, a three year contract and the chance of some European football would be very hard to resist.
