This is a pic from earlier in the year, as I was too pissed to do much yesterday or today, looks like a cool retro cinema.
Funnily enough Crown, I snapped this fantastic art deco cinema building in the Chueca district of Madrid last week:
I'm informed that it's now some kind of gay club, so you should note the name next time you're in spain and hankering for the usual arse banditry. Just scrawl "Rangers FTP" in the john and I'm sure some obliging Juan will offer to take you up the Copland Road end.
P.S. Shouldn't you be working during these trips to Gijon, instead of drinking yourself stupid?

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I see Jonathan Ross is in trouble again.
Got caught shoplifting in the kitchenware department of John Lewis.
Apparently it was only a few, relatively inexpensive items he'd lifted
When asked what he was thinking about, he said he thought it was worth the whisk.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I can remember exactly where I was sitting in my auntie's house when this came on the screen, on her black n white telly. Had been playing football all day with my cousins, think it was one of their birthdays.
Still a shock to see it in colour

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
My experience of said track was a 'kick the can' grudge match being abandoned half-way through so the participants could repair to the sumptuously appointed living -room of Paul & Michael Sweeney's aged P's.
Can't remember if it was B/w or colour TBH.
You're right on the fuckin money tho - it was a massive thing
Only (nearly) matched by the playground buzz following this little lot's TOTP debut.
(the proper TOTP clip is blocked - but you get the nub and the gist of the thing... )

God
That Russell Mael was a good-lookin boy tho wasn't he
Like a young, thin Ronnie Glavin
Thing is... nowadays he's all botoxed up the yin-yang (and on his face an'all ) and Ron looks really cool.
Go figger eh?

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
I love the lines in this...
St Anthony was a travelling man
She was a gogo agitator
He went to bed with a whip in his hand
Doing his best to stimulate her
St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony
St Anthony was all alone
And along come a two tone choclate biscuit
She comes around when the sun goes down
Saying come on baby we can risk it
St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony
She tied St Anthony to the bed
And said I'm gonna be your master
Come on baby dont turn me loose
Just keep on doing it faster faster
St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony, St Anthony
St Anthony was on his knees
holding his hands in supplication
Oh Lord have mercy on my soul
lead me not into temptation
Oh the sensation
Oh the revelation
Oh the temptation of St Anthony
Oh the temptation
Oh the sensation
Oh the revelation of the reincarnation
Of St Anthony
St Anthony
St Anthony
St Anthony

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
A pal of mine used to work in a well-known glasgow hotel. Apparently Rod Stewart's kick was to shag his wife (wife number 3 or 4, can't remember) anywhere but the bedroom. So up a dark corridor, in the lavvy of the restaurant, 3am in the lift, there was Rod, Mrs Rod and his Viagra.
The staff used to pick up their underwear and belongings and leave it in their room. Management wouldn't do anything about it as he was a star and paid top dollar.
I always liked this one....

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
the thing about Alex Harvey is that he always made it look like he walked in off the street, picked up a battered guitar and battered it out.
but the guy was a fukkin performer and the songs were really intricate.
My favourite SAHB number is Faith Healer, really for the vibe as it's a very simple song.

Re: Great Lost Tracks - An Everyday Series
But but but, and yet and yet........here we have the theatrical and the whimsical. I first heard this live before the tomorrow Belongs To Me album came out. It's puzzled me ever since, genuinely puzzled me. I can't work out whether I like it or what it's about, but 30 odd years later it's grown on me.....fukkin weird feeling when I hear this again.
