El Jefe at hampden tonight
Not a great fan of stadium gigs, but I have to say Springsteen tonight was the best of the genre. The man is a born performer, nearly three hours onstage, tight band featuring the excellent Nils Lofgren et al, and delirious fans. We and our neighbours even ended the evening being pleasant to each other, despite the fact they were huns.
Then again, we could all be fellow shareholders in SPL TV soon so it's only right that hands should stretch across the water for a firm "non masonic" greeting and all that
Bruce was on so long, he started in daylight:
and ended in darkness (near the edge of town, ha!):
As the nearest thing the Yanks might ever have to a "socialist", it's nice to see Bruce also finds work for jobless actors. Here he is with the guy who used to be Big Tony's right hand man in the Sopranos. Amazing that he'd get a gig with the E Street band, but in the end it's good to see the guy got a trade and learned the guitar for those frequent thespian down-times:
The pics are all from the dotcom millionaire seats in the stand, where we were surrounded by people rattling theirfalse teeth jewellery according to rock'n roll tradition. Perhaps Govanbhoy will have some snaps from the ranks of the great unwashed.
The final stirring encore was "Twist and Shout" (get the link?)
Ah fuck it was a good gig. Heard The Pretenders were excellent tonight at the ABC too, but sadly couldn't be at both gigs. Only a genius could do that

Re: El Jefe at hampden tonight
I was going to exclude you from that question, momentarily.
Then I thought it would only feed your massive ego, or alternatively, condemn you to an all-night bout of YouTube jukebox oneupmanship, depending on your mood

Re: El Jefe at hampden tonight
Oh come, come Uncle Mo
My ego hasn't been 'massive' since the late 90s
"Out of Control" is the phrase you're feebly grasping for I think you'll find
The YouTube purgatory is a given... given current levels of crapulousness/state of mind
PS
If you have a dream tonight where Brooooce comes onto the Hampden stage with the legend "Elvis - Live in Las Vegas!!!" tattooed down the length of his cock....
You've either:
a. Hit the post-gig Stilton a little hard
b. Been reading my 'Dream Diaries'
c. Been reading the same Greil Marcus stuff as I did pre that dream-diary entry
d. Any of the above

When the revolution comes, the dotcom millionaires and paper tiger capitalist running dogs merely don identical tunics and become the politburo, Sev. And they keep their seats in the stand.

Re: El Jefe at hampden tonight
Not really (always drink at gigs) mate, July was going to be sober with loads of cycling. Cycling is going great, unfortunately so is the drinking. Doesn't help when you can cycle 50 miles no matter how much you've drunk the previous night, where's the incentive not to drink?
Reverend and the Makers are fucking ace though. Just like your reviews.

Sorry mate, your barking (mad) up the wrong tree, my body is a bigger temple than Mo,s, Crown,s and Bewlays put together, no foreign matter pass these lips(ceptin mibbes a few stray oxo,s, i tell her to trim but she,s a lazy cow when it comes to the personal hedgetrimming),so drugs are a no no,
besides, i only deal in pounds and ounces.
