Linnie Paterson

Post by Gladstone on Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:41 pm

He was in Scottish 'progressive' rock band Beggar's Opera

But he died. I'm trying to find out when he joined, when he left, and when he died.

As far as I know, he was the only Scottish singer in the band. The personel changed quite often, and they played at the Grangemouth Festival (I think), in 1972.

This has been a public service announcement.

Most of the band were Scottish, G, were they not? A little before my time but a mate of mine at school was a big fan and saw them often in the early 70s (think his brother knew one of them).

Before Beggar's Opera, Linnie Paterson sang with an Edinburgh band called Writing on the Wall. Interesting pics you have there - did you find them on the Web?

Linnie Paterson I think was also in a band called 'Ears' for a short time. Although the band were Scottish, I think they changed singers a few times, and Linnie was the only Scottish one. Photos are from the web, I'll have a look to see where I got them from (a few weeks back).

Here is the official Beggar's Opera site

But it does not seem to help me chronologically find out what I want to know!

This is a 'fan site' but it doesn't even mention Linnie!

As I look at G's amazingly accurate resemblance, I realise you are in fact Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall.

So Ian, not getting the Caley job ... bit of a blow huh? Pixie toes!
