Is the answer to the second Q...... forty?
And I know the American editor of the OED. Do you want me to ask him the answer to the first Q? I'd only expect a 40% cut of the dosh!

Re: 2 Quezzies...
Hola Mits!!!
Forty is correct
Regarding your shameless attempt to undermine the sporting integrity of the quiz , I can only say that I am shocked and surprised that an upstanding fellow-member of TCF like yerself would resort to such gauche attempts at bribery. :o
You should be savvy enough to know that promises of an "in" to elite literary circles would never be enough to persuade me to abandon my belief in the Corinthian spirit of quizzery! :o :o
You should've gone with bevvy, fine herbs and proscribed chemicals
Juvenile, schoolboy-type error there
