Brace yerself Gladders...
... it's a fitba post!
Two wee vignettes from the Euros:
(i) Balotelli one-on-one with the keeper in the France vs Italy game. You can see it goin through his head... how do I make this 'special' (for special read 'all about me' ). He takes so long thinkin about it, Ramos nips in mid-solipsism and nicks it away for a corner. Minutes later the less solipsistic and infinitely more likeable Di Natale gets a sniff of a chance and slots it beautifully.
(ii) Bruno Alves steps up to take Portugal's penultimate pen. He's a fukkin wreck - havin already mistakenly stepped up to take the third. A good captain woulda taken that fourth pen and put a bit of pressure on the last Spanish kicker (Fabregas). The fact that Ronaldo was too busy making sure his 'Studio-Line'/'Maybellene' (c) quiff was just-so... only to find his services weren't required... a treat chief... a treat.
Always nice to see that arrogant, hubristic sense of entitlement to the good things in the game knocked on its arse dontcha think?

Re: Brace yerself Gladders...
Is the answer 'Dr Feelgood'?
Aye, you've teased me out. The Spaniels are quite annoying, given the talent in their nation.
Balotelli is wayward, huge talent but young. Surely Paulo Bento determines the order of penalty takers, not Ronaldo?
I'm fascinated by the skills of Balotelli and Ronaldo(and Rolando as an anagram getting in the Portuguese squad) but Mesut Özil has been my player of the tournament.
Anyway, staying on a football/topical note, today I listened to Dr Walter Smith telling us that "honesty, hard work and luck" are the attributes that took him to the top in football.
Honestly.

Re: Brace yerself Gladders...
You couldn't paint a red neck on the shameless fuckers Gee.
Good shout on Özil - he'd definitely be one of my players of the tournament an'all. In fact I remember sayin to Toots after seeing the skwerr-heids in the last WC, "I must remember to put a wedge on Germany before the next Euros - they look right on the cusp of a big win"
Of course I forgot all about it.

That's fifteen pounds worth of M&S vouchers saved then.
I'll nick down to Paddy Powers tomorrow and stick it on John 'Bomber' Broon comin out with a coherent sentence.
Gotta be decent odds on that.

Re: Brace yerself Gladders...
Thought the fates conspired against the Italians last night - looked tired too.
Right result though - Spain are just so good to watch.
Seeing the understanding/passing/movement between Fabregas and Iniesta is worth the price of the ticket on its own.
Good tournament too with some crackin games.
No more fitba for a few weeks now.
Ahh well... bring on Wimbers then.
Then there's the 'Lympics.... and the Open....
Not a bad wee close-season as it goes.
