Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Forgot to take the shoes picture unfortunately
However Toots was on hand to ensure that at least one of the sacred traditions of the board was upheld: the scarfed-up camp-as-fuck boxing photie (Or 'looking like a right nob in a shortie mac' as most of you prolly know it better. )
TBH Toots and I were so enraptured with Mr Newman, we didn't think to take any snaps until late on, when we took about three. All of which looked exactly the same.
Not really a visual spectacle ole Rand - the between-song anecdotes were fuckin brilliant tho
Toots did attempt to get summat a bit different later on - but it didn't really work.
On the plus side - we've decided to enter it for the Turner this year and Paddy Power is already offering low odds on us winning.

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Oh yeah... nearly forgot about the red-hot, Stenny-Mad exclusive didn't I
The exclusive is....
(small roll on drums... large bap on bass...)
...Professor Sperms and I compared notes on Monshewer Newman's perf throughout!!! (seein as how he was sitting a coupla seats along from me and Toots! )
(Bad news Crownybhoy - he's not that bald and he's pretty dapper as far as the ole dress-sense goes. On the plus side - he looks likes he's way past his peak physical condition. I reckon you could prolly still take him likes )

More seriously, it was good to meet you and Toots. And judging by your post I'm guessing you two mooched enough change outside to pay the bus home.

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
We shoulda gone round to the Crystal Palace and offered the wee Hun, triumphalist, saddle-sniffer out for a skwerr go like I suggested.
Good to meet you too man.
Sadly I have to report that on the occasion you refer to, Toots' penny whistle and her copy of the Andy Stewart songbook contributed only the meagre sum of £3.72, a 10% off clear spirits at Tesco's voucher and a begging letter from Sir David Murray to the Greene travel fund.
We hadta hitch home from Moodiesburn
I thought that I would die... 'nawlmost did too
One of the best he did last night I reckon

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Late change to the cultural diary, Immo (and, er, Sev):
Lebanon viewing postponed to next week.
However, attended Kursk at the Tramway last night. Drama set in a submarine, with the audience pitched right in among the action. Fantastic use of sound, and a real drama based on the sinking of the Russian nuclear submarine in the Barents Sea.
Great experience, and a really sad ending.

No cameras allowed, unfortunately.

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Mo... Sev...
Toots chanced across the following listing earlier this week.
http://www.list.co.uk/article/25428-blue-raincoat-bring-the-third-policeman-to-glasgows-tron-theatre/
I got v excited
I dunno if either of you have read the book but I reckon it's one of the most laff-out-loud funny things I've read in my life. Ever.
(Having said that... I have loaned/recced this book to several acquaintances who returned it with a slightly wary/pitying/'fukkin nutcase' look in their eye . )
There's a brilliant bit in it where a worried policeman explains to the main character that various individuals in the village are shape-shifting/mutating with their bicycles which easily competes with the very best that the archive of the sainted Spike M has to offer. Even his meisterwerk 'Puckoon' (In fact 'Third Policeman' is v similar in feel to said m-werk I reckon)
There's a murder, a two-dimensional house, an explosion and a needle so sharp that its point is invisible to the naked eye.
Wadyathink?
Toots and I (and Monshewer McChord prolly) will be in attendance on either Wednesday or Thursday
Def-eh-naytely.

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Quel coincidence immo, I was looking at a flyer for the very same play just yesterday. Not sure if I'll make it as I have a couple of cultural engagements, plus work things, this week.
Assuming I don't get there I shall expect a full review.
And if you fancy nipping round to Jamaica St to punch fukk outta the huncyclist on the way home, just go ahead.

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Ahhh man I dunno
It means crossin the road and gettin a 59 bus back into the city centre.
Plus I'd hafta get off just past the railway bridge (before it turns left) and walk past the smelliest, Hunniest pub in Glasgow ("The Laurieston" ) just to get there.
Fuck am I sayin
Shall we say around 11.30?

Re: Randy Newman at GRCH last night
Its about half a mile to the city centre from the Laurieston Immo. Not beyond the normal walking capability of your average middle aged thespian(even a fat one such as yourself) Now if you want to send me your recent piece of work I will give it the once over and get back to you.
ps the Laurieston doesn't even register in the top 20 hunniest pubs in Glasgow.Try the one across the road.

Very odd Crown. Added a post to the second page which already had posts on it. Went back later and the whole page had disappeared.
Of course it may be senility.....
