Aah tons, Immo, but once you start on here you (well, me) end up not getting the domestic jobs done.

'Catcher' was the novel in fourth year at school that suddenly made me realise that there wasn't much more to life than books (you knwo), so Salinger dropping last Wednesday was a kind of sadness. Surprised it didn't get a mention on this, usually culturally sound, "football forum"!!

I thought about it Vern - but then I read the piece in The Onion (which I know Mo reads), thought about the inevitable ribbing that would ensue once he'd nicked all the good bits of it, and decided to give it a bye

I now have three Onion books lying about the house largely unread - the headlines are satisfying enough in a lazy reader kind of way.

'From Esme with Love and Squalor' and 'De Daumier-Smith's Blue Period' are great little stories. The genius of Salinger is that he didn't write "Catcher II" - the honesty, the integrity, the purity of producing one perfect novel and no more. Or maybe he was a lazy cunt with one idea?
