Weekly dose of culture Empty Weekly dose of culture

Post by supermo Mon Jun 22, 2009 7:55 am

I realise that you cunts will have been missing your regular dose of enforced good taste from the offices of the Minister of Culture (aka Supermo).

I did visit the visual communications' end of term show at GSA yesterday, however, and saw some excellent animations by young people with talent (Scotland is full of them!).

So here's a still from an excellent stop-motion animation by Lorraine Stewart:

And here are some of her props, also displayed:

The GSA show is finished now, but the MFA degree show at the Tramway still has this week to run, knuckleheads.

And don't say I never try to broaden your horizons and wean you off tft wank-offs on SF and the travails of life on the YouTube jukebox. Smile

I was just going to add a paean of praise to Crown Liquor - apparently it's fashionable to kiss his ass on this board - for adding to the cultural health of Stennymad by posting BBC radio docs and Ed Reardon's Week downloads.

Then again, maybe you're just a cunt Crown Laughing

PS It's playing on a standard iMac. fantastic computers for making and showing animation, natch.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, honestly.

Go on then educate me, what does that installation "say to you"? It looks to me something a retard would do at special school, after watching Shane.

Ignore his bluff Leonard, mo employs a gimp (shaggy) to take photos for him, a quick play with the levels in Photoshop reveals it is indeed our resident baldy in the reflection.

Very Happy Very Happy My secret is out, Crown. Keep schtum about the liver transplant.

Lennie, it's not an "installation", it's a student's animation where characters made of paper emerge from the pages of a book. Rather clever too.

What's that, sorry? A book? It's a big thing full of paper and covered in words. Once Immo sobers up he'll explain the rest Razz

Fuck me this stuff is way over my head, it's certainly "clever". So what does it say to you, you know explain the "meaning" of the piece to me. I get the western theme. Is it about John Wayne? I love John Wayne me.

You didn't though did you? You go to these things not because you like them........not because you think you'll be enlightened. You go to them because you think it'll make you look clever. It doesn't........it's all wank.

That's a highly original and stupendously dumb "only going because it makes you look clever...art is all wank" theory. Still carry on showing off your ignorance, it's entertaining Halfwit

Where did I say "art is all wank"? I could go to one of those exhibitions and say "that's clever". Doesn't mean I have an appreciation of what the artist is trying to convey. Your post is more "look at me", than look at this art.

I'm not sure why you seem so intent on making your point, but yeh whatever. It's a messageboard mate, get over it.

I know why I go to these things. I don't really care why you think I go.
