When I was a kid in the 70s, the start of the family holidays always seemed to coincide with the end of the Wimbers fortnight. My Uncle Panda was an inveterate sports-hound and always used to insist on 'comin up' (to Montrose or Arbroath Lundin Links or Aibuhr-deen mostly) after watching the men's single final at home. I used to wait too and travel up with him (He had the coolest cars in the family  ). I remember really clearly the time I asked him if a British player would ever win it. He said: "Andrew... there's two things I'm absolutely sure aboot in ma lifetime. Scotland will never win a World Cup and and a British player will never, ever win Wimbledon."

Just sayin like...

Arthur Montford, all great stuff and hairstyles, mind back in the day my mate had a famous "arthur Montford" jacket that we used to wear to buy booze,we never faied to get served, no matter what one of us was wearing it, this was then turned into the "21 jaiket", but it was always the Arthur to me. :-)
