Great Moments in Edukayshin...
... an (extremely) occasional series.
During the course of my duty today...
(Law & the Media: SQA Unit F69 3... 5... somethin or other)
... I found it incumbent upon myself to explain a tricky concept to my eager, apple-cheeked HNC Meeja studes.
Defamation... more precisely, the concept of defamation by innuendo....
I looked out across a sea of faces... clearly untroubled by any kind of ability to comprehend the meaning of the word 'innuendo'.
I'm ashamed to say that I indulged in rampant gagsmithery...
I gave em the ole 'Italian suppository' schtick...
And then... once we'd established the meaning of the word... and the phrase 'double-entendre' had been settled on...
... I let myself down again.
"I always watch out for the double entendre when I'm reading over anything I've written. If I see one, I whip it out"
"Toots asked me for a proper definition of 'double entendre' last night... so I gave her one"

Re: Great Moments in Edukayshin...
Still....
...there's the joy without measure that comes when a Yooni graduate who you taught 4 years ago (Access to Meeja Studies) gives ye the ole 'mention in dispatches' in the acknowledgements section of his final dissertation.
That and the (inament) 7 weeks holiday of course.

Re: Great Moments in Edukayshin...
He better not be - fukker still owes me for a couple of one-liners I sent him 5 years ago.
Cunt's prolly used em by now... on Jokers Wild or somesuch.
In other news...
I heard that they're going to go easy on Stuart Hall.
He's to serve his time in an open nick - he can come and go as he pleases.
But he'll be attached to a big bit of elastic and will snap back to his cell if he wanders anywhere near a school.
Note to Mods
Aren't the and smileys a little tautological/wasteful?
I miss the reindeer.

Re: Great Moments in Edukayshin...
Ted Ray's autobiography was titled...
"Ray's a Laugh"
I'm not even joking/trying to be funny
And neither is this guy...
(NB Readers d'un age certain with a weak constitution (or a moderately developed sense of humour) may want to think twice before clicking this link. Neither Sev, Plissken nor I take any responsibility for feelings of futility that any viewers may feel after watching the oldest joke in the world being told by the oldest (and only) crumple-faced SouthEffrikan comedian available in the 1970s.)
Barry Cryer is a comedy God tho.
Yours, in comedy,
Alf Tittipotamus.

You hadn't introduced the cycling retard to tautologies when he was adding the smileys. Call yourself a teacher? (insert the "immo is a bit of a prick" smiley)
