John Newling
Knew there was a new exhibition due at Notts Contemp soon so accessed their website today and John Newling is one of the two artists. You probably don’t recall but I wrote about encountering him on a Notts cultural day posted here in 2011, here’s the section:
Went into the small gallery and the artist John Newling http://www.john-newling.com/ was tending to his “Miracle Trees” exhibit: http://www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/art/john-newling
Had an interesting chat with him about “making” the soil in which the Moringa Trees were grown, and how the leaves could be harvested and used as high value food additives in third world countries.
He was very enthusiastic and keen to share his enthusiasm, I’m always a willing student so it topped off my visit perfectly.

There’s no beauty in nature for me, I fucking hate it and avoid at all costs and nature is not art, but his work is interesting so I’ll visit and probably put some video on EC.
Notts Contemp is fantastic, if you’re in the area please visit. It’s possibly not as avant garde as PSL in Leeds or Site Gallery in Sheffield but the curator deserves huge credit for their programme.

Re: John Newling
There was in the Francis Upritchard exhibition at NC last year, sev.
Francis Upritchard - “Wanker”
http://www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/art/francis-upritchard
And here’s a bonus penis pic from YSP, also last year:
Elisabeth Frink - “Riace Warrior II”
Perhaps art galleries may be for you after all, sev, do you want to tag along to a couple next time I’m in Manchester? (insert smiley)

Re: John Newling
Was in Aberdeen last week, went to see an exhibition by Gary Hume .......... what a load of wank. I could paint better myself
Also revisited the manky old sleeping bag lying on a board in the middle of the gallery. Read the notice with it this time around cause its annoyed me for a year and wanted to get the artists name to send him hate mail. Turns out the fucking thing was a bronze, arts for poofs anyways
