I did a summer season with them once hen i live in Torquay,in fact, Eddi showed me the telegram he had received from Billy Mcneil, when he took over at Man city.

There's a sorry tale behind the spurter tho (as is often the case)
An afficionado of comic opera since his youth, he attempted to perform Der Rosenkavalier whilst incorporating elements of his act.
The plan was that at the climactic moment of his final aria, he would launch the 'show-stopper' from his act where he contorted himself in such a way that he managed to 'spurt' right up to the third row of the balcony....
...
His failure, and subsequent humilation (and hiatus hernia) caused him to commit suicide.
The note beside his lifeless body read...
"Couldn't hit those high C's anymore
"
