Seriously Crown... 'Jerusalem' is fucking fantastic - easily the most exciting thing I've read this year.

Definitely worth a punt. Basketball

I'd be interested to know what you think of TDP. Ponder2

Oh fucking hell, now I'm gonna feel guilty 'til I've read Jerusalem and watched The Dinner Party. You know I'm a thick cunt who's not on your intellectual level and not fit to lace your boots, don't you? My opinion's not worth a wank.
Still brighter than that cunt mita, mind. Very Happy

I think you're confusing the phrase 'intellectual level' with 'ability to remember things when arseholed/quite good at general knowledge' Laughing

Jerusalem doesn't require any special skills - it's a great story is all. And like all great stories, the aftermath is the best bit; as you turn the images over in yer head for days afterwards and try to work out if there was something bigger being said under the surface of the text.

It's got good swearing in it too. Mad cheers

Eureka Street (a novel) by Robert McLiam Wilson is shaping up pretty well an'all if you're up for a bit of Noir-moderne set in Belfast.

Is there a lot of shagging in it?

If not, put me and Sev down as "no"

(NB Sev, you been watching Lip Service on BBC4? I love lesbians, me.)

Toe curlingly, pillow bitingly, peeking through fingersly, brilliant television. Nearly made me end it all, mind (no change there, then) Dead The perfect advertisement for misanthropy.

Thank you so much for recommending it, immo, essential viewing.cheers

Stennymad has tweeted a couple of excellent TV shows to catch.

Glad to be of service mucker. Smile

Some great bits in it. Thought the garden blow-job was beautifully shot. Laughing Loved the symbolism in the fact that the 'lovable' spiv, Arthur Daley/George Cole was sidelined for most of the play while the crass, vulgar spiv at the centre of the action held court. Lee Evans was pretty good in it and Elizabeth Berrington (The Shrew) was well-weirdly/angularly sexy. In Love

But...

I felt a bit flat at the end of it cos the writing was so stagey and clunky in bits that the characters just came across a bit crudely drawn and I didn't really care about what happened to them at the end - ( not good for the ole dramatic tension) Evil or Very Mad

Glad you enjoyed it though. Thumbs Up Smile

EDIT

BTW...

I've got the BBC1/BBC4 McGovern/Ecclestone "Accused" thing recorded, but sumbdy at work told me it was a bit shite/obvious. Sad

Did you (or any other Stennyites) watch it?

I'm kinda hoping m'colleague was just bein a bit grumpy at the time. Crying or Very sad
