Chilean Miners
Chilean Miners
Anyone think that whole event was staged, like the moon landing?
Sebastián Piñera has the money to organise such an event, the area was isolated and well guarded, he owns Chilevisión, a nationwide television channel, and has been involved in a few scandals, most recently being fined $680,000 for insider trading (2007).
This affair is a huge boost to his international profile for billionaire Piñera, who has been visiting world leaders this week handing out bits of mine rock as mementoes.
It takes attention away from the Mapuche problem, which brings masses of bad publicity to the country, not for the first time.
Or have I too much time on my hands......................?
