I cycled 5.83 miles today

Took me about 40 minutes, that's quite slow isn't it. A wee girl on a Raleigh Mini Miss 14" overtook me.

Anyway, here's my question: my hands got pins and needles quite a bit while out there on the open road. How can this be prevented, fellow bikers?

Griping the handlebars with rings on each finger (and bells on your toes ) causes pressure on nerve endings and so pins and needles. Try riding non-handed to alleviate the problem.

Actually the tingling comes from prolonged stretching of the nerve across bony bits, ie at your wrist and elbow.

So you don't think complaining about the handlebars (or "griping") is the cause then, Ono?

I got a tie on gel seat cover out of lidl's but after that 5.83 miles my arse was like the new header Crown's put at the top of the site, but with a good bit more red in it.

I adjusted the angle of mine, down by two clicks. The weight is more evenly distributed now and my arse doesn't feel like I was sitting on broken glass

The thing about cycling or running is, you have to get home. You may be 20 miles out in the pissing rain and thoroughly pissed off, but you can't just dismount and give up, you have to get home. The gym is too easy to give up when it hurts, for me anyway.
And you may have to speak to someone at the gym, I fucking hate people and avoid them at all costs.

Have you tried spinning classes at the gym mo? They're fucking hard work and the fat will fall off you.

Our gym has a new extension opening next week with bikes for spinning, we're assured.
